LINEUP AND DETAILS FOR IMPACT PRESENTS...OH, STOCKHOLM!/LAURA HOCKING/MONDO ROYALE £1
Mondo Royale to headline the start of Impact’s autumn season
Headlining will be Oh, Stockholm! Impact has been privileged to put Stockholm on a few times, and they are always a pleasure to watch. Over the last few years, Stockholm’s sound has developed from wistful folk to lo-fi noise-pop, but whilst their members and style have changed, their heart has remained the same. Stockholm bring folk songs which tell stories – songs which are as fragile as they are grand, and as equally bleak as they are hopeful.
Support will be coming from Laura Hocking, a singer songwriter often accompanied by a band known as The Long Goodbye. Describing her music as freak folk pop, Laura is a Yorkshire girl who is currently based in London. She likes songs which express something that can't be said in polite company, and knows that the best revenge is an unflattering portrait. Her songs are based on characters and stories, and her blend of folk with catchy pop melodies are sure to be stuck in your head after one listen.
Mondo Royale may be relatively new on the scene, but the tongue in cheek, “electro-pop-ish” band will be opening at the Hare and Hounds on the 2nd of September. The five piece produce songs full of catchy, upbeat melodies to get your feet tapping and your legs grooving. They’re currently gigging around Birmingham plus doing some recording, so you’re sure to be hearing a lot about them soon; come and catch them before the hype begins!
Details of the gig are:
