WCIT In association with Curfew:MCR / Haus22 / SubPlot are back again with
NICK CURLY (Drumcode / 8bit / Trust).
As he approaches his tenth year in music, Nick Curly can look back on a decade where he has been a permanent fixture at highest level of the game as DJ, producer and label owner.
Over these intervening years, Nick has managed to refine a signature groove-based sound, moving through deep and tech-house to techno and back again, which is always definitively Nick Curly. His production and DJ reputation now stands as a guaranteed stamp of quality for DJs and dance-floor devotees worldwide
Music first. In 2016, his home label 8bit continues to provide the backbone of his release schedule, but new label associations are continually announced as Nick continues to reinvent his style. His ‘BBC’ single appeared on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode A-sides LP at the turn of this year, which drew a line from Nick’s ‘Trust’ EP, which appeared on the Swede’s other label Truesoul back in 2015.
June and July bring remixes for two Berlin-based labels. First up, there is a welcome return to his friends at Mobilee (regular co-conspirators at parties around the world) as he remixes Gorge’s ‘It’s Time’ and he debuts on Pan Pot’s Second State imprint with a re-rub for new act The Reason Y with ‘Whisper’. A brace of EPs round off summer, with a solo EP on 8bit and a collaborative EP ‘All Things’ with Steffen Deux, on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound.
In the performance world, Nick has cemented his position in the A-list, touring worldwide continually since 2008. The year 2015 carried a record number of bookings yet 2016 somehow feels like a break-through year, as debut club dates have been confirmed at iconic clubs Il Muretto, Circoloco, Knee Deep in Sound at Pacha Ibiza, Brooklyn’s Flash Factory and Fabrik Madrid plus a career-high number of appearances on the festival circuit including TimeWarp DE, Chapter 12 Birmingham, BPM, Eastern Electrics and debuts at PollerWiesen Festival, Awakenings (Manchester), The Netherlands’ Free Your Mind and 18 Hours Festivals, SonneMondSterne, Loveland presents Drumcode (Barcelona),
WCIT residents Paul Jamez and Crossfield continue to provide first class support, establishing themselves as firm favourites with clubbers.
