Resonant Frequencies presents: Born on The Road
Resonant Frequencies are bringing you a star label of the Drum and Bass scene, Born on Road.
Born on Road
Born on Road is a Bristol-based record label and DJ collective firmly rooted at the heart of drum and bass and jungle’s underground music scene. Since being established in 2013, we’ve built a reputation as an eclectic outfit known for pushing good music. It doesn’t matter if it’s jungle, jump up, ragga, or some sublime vocal work, if we vibe with it then we’ll champion it to the masses.
This is an attitude born from our history in the underground music scene, where the free-flowing energy of sound system culture formed the foundations of the label’s all-inclusive ethos. It’s the reason why we’ve quickly grown into a sprawling music family that all support one another’s careers. From stage takeovers at festivals including Boomtown and Glastonbury to signing the most exciting homegrown talents, Born on Road are always looking for ways to drive forward the underground scene, along with the artists inside it.
We may be a new wave music label, but we adopt the old-school approach of putting the music first before anything else. This journey has been an eventful one so far, but there’s still plenty more to come on the road ahead.
On the night we will have label owners Aries & Kelvin 373 going B2B.
Aries
Reggae and Jungle are genres of music with strong roots in the UK and Aries has immersed himself in both cultures which has heavily influenced his whole ethos of production and DJing. It is this integrity and dedication to the scene which has earned him respect amongst his peers meaning he now flies the flag internationally for modern-day sound-system culture.
Aries’ sound combines vintage Jungle sensibilities with traditional Reggae music polished off with modern-day production techniques. The finished product is his own Dubwise strain of the UK’s one true homegrown genre, Jungle.
Kelvin 373
“Leader of the new school Junglist’s” A phrase coined by Rinse FM’s Uncle Dugs as a nod to how Kelvin 373 has inspired a generation of ravers through his love for Jungle Drum & Bass and his dedication to building a unified scene with his label Born on Road.
His achievements in sound system culture stem from roots on the underground rave circuit and have seen him storming the UK festival circuit but when we turn our attention to the present day it’s evident that Kelvin has entered the mainstream Drum & Bass circuit where he’s playing at the heavy hitters such as Printworks, Motion, and The Warehouse Project.
