Newcastle band Parastatic have programmed two days of ‘music from the edges’ featuring some of the finest established and emerging artists from across the North’s alternative scene.
With music from 12 artists, across two days and over two stages, expect a healthy dose of fuzz, a spoonful of shoegaze, some post-punk action, a large serving of krautrock and add to all that a twist of experimental electronics from the abstract to the downright danceable.
This weekend promises to be a real celebration of music that proudly sits outside the mainstream yet still has the chops to move you and to get you moving.
We are being joined at the Star and Shadow on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th October by…
North East krautophonic legends Warm Digits, Leeds noise-niks Fuzz Lightyear, your hosts the post-kraut Parastatic with Late Girl and the mesmerising folktronica of Me Lost Me.
Leeds outfit Shaene bring their gritty guitars and soaring synths to town alongside local grungey shoegazers Labyrinthine Oceans and post-punk enigmas Marginal Gains.
Our electronic yearnings are met by a gaggle of Northern leading Lights including psychedelic modular synthesis from Zer0set (solo project of Dave M from The Early Years), abstraction and beauty from Stu Walkinshaw, and twisted beats and samples from Tibshelf with accompanying visuals courtesy of sEtwin.
Idle Hands bring their mesmerising stage presence to us and we welcome dreamy newcomers Prospect of Power (featuring Sarah from Nano Kino).
Cinema room performances will have a limited capacity and entry will be on a first come first served basis.
Line-up may be subject to change.
