Cristoph | Joshua Brooks Manchester

Cristoph plays Joshua Brooks on 10 October, bringing the progressive and melodic house sound that has carried him from Newcastle basements to Hï Ibiza and back again. Bill Rogers supports.

Cristoph, real name Christopher Costigan, has spent the last decade building one of the more considered careers in UK dance music. He broke through on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound with "Alone" and became the first artist signed to Eric Prydz's Pryda Presents, where "Breathe" with CamelPhat and Jem Cooke went UK Top 40 and picked up a BPI Gold certification. Releases on Bedrock, Last Night On Earth, Anjunadeep and Truesoul followed, along with a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in January 2021.

Society Recordings is both his imprint and his radio show, and it housed his debut album "Life Through A Different Lens" in April 2025. Eighteen tracks, sequenced to mirror an open to close set, meant to be heard in order. It was a statement about how he thinks a night should move rather than a collection of singles.

He has not slowed since. "Stay / Polestar" landed on Consequence of Society in January 2026, followed by "Disco Juice" on The Cross Records, "Set Your Mind" with Fahlberg on Interstellar, and "Spacer" with Michael Anthony this month. His remix of Dido and R Plus for Loaded also arrived earlier this year. Live, he is known for long-form sets that build slowly and hold their nerve.

Bill Rogers opens. He runs Manchester label Haus22 Records, has released on Toolroom, and knows this basement well from previous bookings here. He shared a bill with Cristoph at Manchester's Balearic Garden in 2024.

Joshua Brooks suits this music better than most rooms in the city. The basement on Princess Street is low, bare-bricked and arched, so the sound stays close and the crowd stays in front of the booth rather than spread across a floor. The Void Acoustics system carries the sub weight that progressive house lives on without losing the detail in the top end, which matters when a set is built on gradual pressure rather than peaks. Two Manchester Evening News Best Venue wins and DJ Mag Best Small Club nominations say the room has been doing this properly for a while.

Doors at 22:00, through until 04:00.
