Watch The Drop! Panjabi Hit Squad, Darama + Residents

WATCH THE DROP! is back and bringing you a HEAVYWEIGHT line-up of amazing South Asian DJ’s playing the best bass driven beats!.

We’re excited to invite BBC 1xtra/Asian Network premier DJ’s PANJABI HIT SQUAD to headline at our new home at Sheaf St. Leeds. playing to a crowd of open-minded bass reactive music lovers. Also making their debut with WTD! Is  Daytimers UK most talented producer, DARAMA. Ofcourse we had to bring back our Rave Rani, JAMEELA and not forgetting our ye ol’ faithful, MANKEEPITDEEP.

PANJABI HIT SQUAD

Panjabi Hit Squad is comprised of the successful DJ & Production team, Rav & Dee. The duo, creators and pioneers of the now world-famous Desi Beats sound, have been present at the very forefront of the Asian Music Scene since their formation.

Panjabi Hit Squad's sought-after DJ performances have electrified dance floors across the world at some of the most talked about clubs, festivals, award parties and launch events. Their unique signature sound, which encompasses urban music mixed with eastern beats, has been instrumental in the mainstream uptake of Asian music.

After touring with acclaimed rapper Little Simz (on the Schoolboy Q Oxymoron tour) and Bonkaz across Europe and Australia, Complexion showcased his versatility with two impressive Boiler Room performances to add to his resume alongside A$AP Mob & Action Bronson. As the host of Future Wave on BBC 1Xtra, Complexion guest mixes have been showcased by Mistajam, Clara Amfo, Nick Bright, BBC Asian Network & Rinse FM’s Plastician.

Playing an open-format scratch turntablist style, his sets cover a wide spectrum of hip-hop, trap, grime, commercial R&B, house and club styles.

DARAMA

London-based DJ and producer Darama has had quite an introduction to the underground electronic music scene, with his unique blend of South Asian percussion and UK bass-heavy sounds gaining the attention of DJs and dancefloors across the country. After releasing a slew of club-ready edits, his position as one of the UK’s most exciting new producers was firmly cemented when a clip of his track played at the Daytimers Boiler Room event went viral.

Born to Punjabi parents, Darama’s heritage and influences can be heard throughout his music – where garage, grime, and UK funky meet frenetic South Asian rhythms to create an instantly recognisable sound. Many of his unreleased, highly sought-after dubs have become staples across Rinse, the BBC, and Reprezent, and his role as a core member of the Daytimers collective has seen him come to the fore as one of the emerging talents in the burgeoning British Asian underground scene. Never was this more apparent than at his genre defying Mixmag Lab, where he proved his sets have the same intangible energy as his tunes.

JAMEELA

Local resident Jameela is no stranger to playing bass heavy sounds around the city to hundreds of ravers each week! A regular at Wire, Headrow House and other notable venues across the City, Jameela is also a part of all-female local DJ community Slut Drop who are known for making plenty of noise around Leeds.

MANKEEPITDEEP

Leeds very own rising star, DJ, Producer, and Mango Lassi Drinker, Mankeepitdeep is a purist in all that’s bass, mixing and blending sounds from his Indian origins with trippy DnB, Dubstep and Garage. After contributing on Daytimers original compilation and featuring his heavy bass production ‘When life gives you lemons make nimbu paani’ on DJ Manara’s BBC Asian Network show his unique style is one to be heard.
