Daniel Casimir presents:
The 60th Anniversary of Charles Mingus' Mingus Ah Um.
60 Years to the day since its release, we invite London's most exciting bass talent to perform the Charles Mingus classic 'Mingus Ah Um' in its entirety.
Dubbed 'The Most Creative Year in Jazz' by All About Jazz, 1959 certainly handed fans a plethora of timeless records. Mingus' contribution to this great catalogue is celebrated for the character, personality, humour and energy of his recordings and live performances. It is the album which surpasses the creator in some respects. From the bluesy call to prayer on "Better Git It In Your Soul" to the reverent balladry of "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", the album is a diverse, celebration of bop, swing and harmonies that invoke classical music as much as the blues.
Daniel Casimir's star has risen steadily and has seen him share the studio and the stage with the likes of Lonnie Liston Smith and Jean Toussaint.
