Hideout presents an exclusive Japanese whisky tasting featuring the renowned Nikka range, perfect for enthusiasts eager to explore the elegance and precision of Japan’s whisky heritage at our intimate Bath venue.
Nikka Whisky was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, widely regarded as the father of Japanese whisky. Born in 1894 into a sake-brewing family, Taketsuru travelled to Scotland in the early 20th century to study distilling techniques. After helping establish Japan’s first commercial whisky distillery at Yamazaki (for what became Suntory), he went on to create his own venture in 1934, building the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido—chosen for its cool, misty climate reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands—to produce authentic, high-quality whisky under the Nikka name.
The tasting will be expertly presented by a UK Nikka brand ambassador, guiding guests through the lineup with insight and enthusiasm. It begins with a specially crafted welcome cocktail, followed by a guided five-whisky tasting showcasing Nikka’s signature expressions and distinctive character.
