Roses In December (formerly Crux) are a vehicle for catharsis. Fusing the
aggressive, rugged sounds of punk and grunge with elements of prog, they’re here
to expel their frustrations towards the ugliest parts of living within late capitalism -
corporate greed, toxic masculinity, the way individualism is prioritised over
community. Fiercely socialist in their politics, their worldviews have been shaped by
witnessing first-hand the effects of a neglectful, callous government on local people in
their native Newcastle. Roses In December want to open people’s eyes to the way
the world works and “help people take their anger out in a creative way”. Backed by Tom Robinson on Radio 1 and performing at the likes of The Alternative
Escape and A Stone’s Throw Festival 2024, Roses In December are making new
waves in the alternative rock scene with their haunting riffs and raw lyricism. With a renewed, more cohesive sense of themselves, they’re marching on with a
more singular vision. When you’re a powder keg of rage with nowhere else for it to
go, music can offer a safe release for it, whether you’re bashing the strings of a
guitar or running amok in the pit. This is what Roses In December are here to offer.
They want you to think and they want you to connect. Beyond that, they’re also the
enemies of ignorance – they have a point to prove about the social mechanisms that
don’t serve the ninety-nine percent. It’s an insidious world out there and Roses In
December will make you see it.
