Lamaya

There is only one LAMAYA. A Scottish-Nigerian artist rooted in the UK underground, LAMAYA is building an alternative Afropop sound shaped by her Nigerian heritage, Scottish upbringing and Spanish influences. Her music holds a rare duality: deeply personal yet globally minded, moving between vulnerability and confidence, intimacy and distance.

Writing from instinct rather than genre, LAMAYA brings soulful vocals into a world of fractured electronics, Afro-futurist textures and apocalyptic production. Her collaborations with producer Quested have become central to this sound, creating music that feels intimate, unpredictable and constantly shifting. Across releases including GINGA, Omo Yoruba, Skin and DON CAST, she continues to explore love, identity and the feeling of existing between worlds.

A trained dancer, LAMAYA brings the same instinct for movement to her live performances, where physicality becomes part of the music itself. She has shared stages with Ayra Starr, Kizz Daniel, Gunna and Children of Zeus, played sold-out headline shows in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and was selected to perform at SXSW London through PITCH Scotland.

Raised in East Kilbride, LAMAYA grew up feeling out of step with her surroundings. Rather than trying to fit into someone else's world, she has built one of her own, shaped by the different identities, influences and contradictions that make her who she is.

That world continues to unfold with NO FAIR, released on 16 October, followed by BEN DOVER on 30 October. Both singles lead into her six-track EP ALI£N, out 27 November. She will celebrate the release with a headline show at The Social in London on 1 December.
