TRUE ROMANCE

Another superlative Tarantino classic heading your way at Pig-turehouse cult film night with one of the coolest films of the nineties and beyond: True Romance! 

In between writing and directing Reservoir Dogs and his Hollywood breakthrough film Pulp Fiction, screenwriter Quentin Tarantino teamed up with director Tony Scott in 1993 to deliver True Romance, which combines all the elements of a true Tarantino classic: lovable underdog protagonists, biting dialogue, pitch black humour, a kick-ass soundtrack, superb cast, gory violence and tons of style.

Over one fateful night, Elvis fanatic and comic book nerd Clarence (Mr Robot’s Christian Slater) and call girl Alabama (Patricia Arquette) fall desperately and irrevocably in love and marry, but there is a hitch: Alabama’s pimp Drexl (Gary Oldman) stands in the way of their happy ending. With spiritual guidance from the ghost of Elvis, the newlyweds wind up with a dead pimp and a bag of cocaine, chased by mobsters from Detroit to Los Angeles. 

For a film that’s nearly a quarter of a century old, True Romance remains an ageless classic. If you’ve never seen it, this is a must-watch. If you have seen it countless times, treat yourself to another well overdue viewing over film-inspired cocktails!
