ABOUT THE EVENT

An enjoy an evening of top class Qawwali music, with a mesmerising performance by rising star Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal.

Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal was born and raised into a qawwali singing family in Faisalabad, Pakistan. A student of Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Chahat is only 21 years of age. Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal, son and father duo made their UK debut with sayarts.com in July 2023 and have now performed at 100 plus qawwali events from South Bank Centre, London, to Eid in the Square in Trafalgar Square, Sufi Festival, and Symphony Hall in Birmingham. They have performed for dignitaries from First Minister of Scotland to the Mayor of London.

Mahmood Ali, the father, played the second Harmonium with Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for 11 years and 9 years with Faiz Ali Faiz. Mahmood himself has been trained in Harmonium from the late Furukh Fateh Ali Khan (brother of late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan).

Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal and team have been performing traditional style of qawwali and their repertoire includes performing qawwali in languages from Urdu, Punjabi and Persian. The qawwali performances pay tribute to the great Sufis from Baba Bulleh Shah (Kasur), to Miyaan Muhammad Baksh (Mirpur, Azaad Kashmir) to name a few.

Sarfaraz Hussain, the tabla player with Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwal, is lead singer at the shrine of Bulleh Shah, one of the most popular Punjabi poets and
