You are invited to attend the launch of VR Arts, the UK's first dedicated Virtual Reality creative space, right here in Manchester.

A space dedicated to the exploration, experimentation and creation of Virtual Reality that connects both the digital arts and the traditional art fields all under one roof.

Imagine a space where immersive theatre designers can meet leading software coders, a space for scriptwriters to meet game developers and producers of linear flat screen content can meet producers of virtual 3D worlds, and so much more!

VR Arts is proposing that such a space is needed in Manchester, so that the region and its talented creatives can become a global force in the development of Virtual Reality storytelling and the production and distribution of these stories.

Virtual Reality is a multi-billion pound industry. The playing field for content creation has been levelled, and access to the audience to sell these experiences and stories to is now open for business.
A major part of VR Arts remit is to work out how to build a service industry to access this new market place, and what new skills, mindsets and critical thinking is required to play in this space.

The VR Arts space also needs to be independent and free to experiment, and not have the commercial pressures attributed to most early start ups - so come along and hear how we intend to do this, and how we will work.

VR Arts is a 'Future Artists' company - who's creative work in Manchester and the UK is well known, and who's mission statement is the embodiment of the spirit of VR Arts, which is 'Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible' Frank Zappa.

To achieve VR Arts, over the past 2 years prior to launch, company founder and CEO Mark Ashmore has been on a fact finding mission around the world, talking to leading VR creators in Silicon Valley about content creation and hardware development, giving lectures to the European Animation Industry in Munich via Cartoon Digital and bringing together leading hardware manufactures to support his vision. The culmination of two years of work is this launch event - the official launch of VR Arts in Manchester.

VR Arts is sponsored and supported by HTC, Cooler Master, CCL Computers, ShoosmithsVR Manchester who over the past 6 months have supported and nurtured this idea; At this point we would like to thank HTC for the Vive kits that we will be demoing with at the event, to Katie at Cooler Master for supporting and working closely with VR Arts to realise the scope and ambition of this idea, to CCL Computers (the UK's leading supplier of VR ready computers) for creating a unique PC just for us!!! that will be released later in the year as a VR Arts ready computer, to Laura Harper at Shoosmiths for listening and help shape the project, and to our own VR community in Manchester who have started to network and bring together the leading thinkers and creators in the region to develop world class VR via the meet up VR MANCHESTER. This is just the beginning, who else will join us?

VR Arts invites you to experience the future of immersive entertainment and a new tool for global business. We will have 3 VR experiences for you to try at the event (details below) and the night will be organised as an unconference set up for networking and knowledge sharing. Our venue sponsor is Sedulo, and the event will take place in their beautiful in-house co-working space and meeting rooms (must be seen to be believed, it’s fantastic).

I look forward to meeting you all, from Mark Ashmore CEO of VR Arts and founder of Future Artists and all the team and supporters of this idea, thanks for reading.
