JANGLE 8TH BIRTHDAY - PLYMOUTH EDITION.

Continuing from our Exeter event, we will be extending the love to the Plymouth family. In the past couple of years, we've hosted some mad events at The Factory, therefore we thought it suited that we would celebrate another year in our journey.

Joining us for this one; is one of the first brand's we welcomed for a takeover, the Bristol based Jungle/Drum & Bass collective known as Born On Road. From humble beginnings, the guys behind this collective are some of the most down to earth and devoted DJ/Producers in the UK Jungle scene. Expanding to all kinds of Drum & Bass in recent years, with new talent under their wing, Born On Road continue to innovate and evolutionise the sound of Jungle Drum & Bass.

🌴 KELVIN 373

Growing up with parents in the travelling and free party scene Born On Road co-founder Kelvin 373 really was born on road. Years later he now has thousands of loyal listeners every month and appears on line-ups all across the U.K. and Europe, proving that love and dedication to the music can take you anywhere.

Kelvin burst his way on to the scene as not only an exciting DJ and producer, but the co-owner of popular label Born on Road, which specialises in scouting the best emerging young talent in drum and bass.

A proud junglist through and through, Born On Road reflects Kelvin’s energy and faith in the new generation. Over the last seven years the label he runs with friend and co-owner Aries has created high levels of hype with an ever-growing repotoire of jungle and rollers breaking new artists such as AC13, Gray and Ben Snow.

🌴 ARIES

Aries’ sound combines vintage Jungle sensibilities with traditional Reggae music polished off with modern day production techniques. The finished product is his own Dubwise strain of the UK’s one true homegrown genre, Jungle.

He broke through to the A-list of the Jungle world after releasing music on legendary record labels: Congo Natty, Dread and V Recordings, plus Aries has recorded with a whole world of vocal talent that does by no means stop at Top Cat, David Boomah, Solo Banton, Nanci & Phoebe, Demolition Man, Jah Mason and Johnny Osbourne. His DJing is in demand across the globe having played high profile DJ sets in most major countries.

Within the reputedly closed doors of the Jungle Drum & Bass world, true support is carried by your peers and it is they who validate your career. Aries has been met with open arms by figureheads of the scene. In the mainstream, Aries receives radio play from BBC’s Toddla T, Zane Lowe, Rob Da Bank and DJ Hype plus his Youtube views reach the millions. This is all from one of the most humble people you are likely to meet in the music business.

It is undoubtedly true that Aries will continue his ongoing plight to serve the world true grassroots Dubwise Jungle dubplates. Whether it be releasing his own music, collaborating on projects or running record labels, Aries will be pushing the sound that he loves.

🌴 SELECTA J-MAN

With raw talent and emerging names Born on Road have created a place for themselves within the wider world of dance music and their Bristol home has helped them build this vision. Exploring the musical boundaries across Dancehall, Bashment, Reggae, Hip Hop and Jungle, they perfectly encapsulate the city and Selecta J-Man is another example of this fact.

Alongside other key Born on Road players such as Aries, Kelvin 373, Gold Dubs and Stivs, Selecta J-Man has stood as a defining part of the label’s journey. Renowned for working with Reggae greats, Selecta J-man draws for his wealth of influences through his forthcoming ‘My Style’ EP. Redders joins Selecta J-Man for the EP’s title-track and it’s the perfectly medley of rinse-out vocals and growling bass notes. Then Rider Shafique is the next collaborator for ‘Sound Business’, which pushes the same club-orientated vibes. David Boomah is welcomed into the mix for ‘Stronger’, jumping between its stabs of bass and jumping breaks. Meanwhile, Selecta J-Man provides a standalone offering through ‘Kill Sound’. With sliced and diced segments and thumping kicks, this track stands out through its staggered drops and flipping beat patterns. It’s definitely another no-holds-barred offering from the artist.
