Krušovice, Royal Czech Beer since 1581, has teamed up with idiosyncratic comedian Paul Foot to offer media, bloggers and regular consumers the chance to co-create a modern-day Cabinet of Curiosities at a one-night-only pub-based discussion and tasting event in Manchester’s Northern Quarter at Cottonopolis.
On a night of ‘Wit and Wunderkammer’, Paul Foot, Curator of the Krušovice Cabinet of Curiosities, will curate a collection of curiosities in homage to King Rudolf II in celebration of Krušovice’s heritage. Guests will be asked to bring something for the collection to crown their moment with their own curiosity, whether it is an artistic, bizarre, funny or mesmerising contraption or specimen.
The one-off, exclusive event will celebrate King Rudolf II's birthday with Comedian Paul Foot and Beer Expert Sam Surl guiding leading guests into a tasting session of the Tank Beer, alongside an immersive chat on its history, provenance and the legacy of the ‘Mad King Ruddy’ himself. Then audience will then turn to chat with Paul Foot, the host with a penchant for the eccentric, the artistic and the curious, with the aim of convincing him that their curio deserves to reside in the Krušovice Cabinet of Curiosities
Situated in a city that is famous for its tank beer, Cottonopolis, Greater Manchester, provides the perfect setting for Paul’s search for modern-day curiosities that King Rudolf II himself would have been proud of. The bar serves Krušovice’s tank beer, which is delivered weekly from the Czech Republic and allows guests to taste the beer straight from the Royal Czech Brewery.
The Krušovice Cabinet of Curiosities event is open to the public on Wednesday 27th July between 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Only customers with a reservation and armed with their submission for the cabinet will be permitted entry.
