FLASH GORDON

Based on the titular comic, Mike Hodges’ 1980 science fiction/action movie Flash Gordon is an intentionally campy, visually cartoonish feast of a film, with a stylistic nod to the 60s Batman TV series. Sprinkle on a space-operatic soundtrack by British rock legends Queen, and you have a proper camp cult classic!

On planet Mongo, the despot Ming The Merciless (Max von Sydow) attacks the world out of sheer boredom. Dr Hans Zarkov (Topol) calls upon football star Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) and travel agent Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) to go to space to stop Ming with the help of Hawkmen.
