The Panel

April Lamai

April Lamai is an award-winning barrister who both prosecutes and defends in some of the most serious criminal cases across the UK.

After earning her undergraduate law degree from Dublin City University, April made the pivotal decision to relocate to England to pursue a career at the Bar. Despite facing some challenges along the way, she was called to the Bar of England and Wales at just 24 years old.

Driven by a passion for both the law and public speaking, April was invited to speak at the UK Parliament – including the House of Commons – where she took part in a landmark meeting with US civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton. In 2023, she had the honour of delivering a speech on the same stage as former US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Laolu Elugbaju

Laolu is a corporate lawyer at Gateley Legal, a Top UK 50 law firm. His practice areas are M&A, investment work and Equity capital market transactions.

Lotus Kimona

Meet Lotus, she is a paralegal undertaking training to qualify as a CILEx Lawyer. She has various experience in Family and Commercial Law, now specialises in Family Law her preferred specialism. She completed the LPC and MSc in Law, Business and Management at the University of Law, in 2022.

Whilst studying her undergraduate degree at Portsmouth University, she undertook a placement year where she worked at a boutique firm and volunteered at an anti-human trafficking charity. She also became a mentor and in March 2021 launched T.P.N – The Paralegal Network, to connect and support paralegals on their journey to qualifying as a solicitor in the UK. @tpnparalegalsuk

Zohaib Hashim

Zohaib is the founder and CEO of Blackmont Legal, a boutique law firm specialised in corporate, commercial and IP law. He brings over a decade of expertise, having worked with regulated products, film, media and the music industries.
