H Hawkline & Gwenno + Mike Moloney

Ages 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)

“Hawkline’s loose style and baritone are undeniably infectious” - *NME***

“Wiry post-punk bearing some fine lyrical turns” - *The Quietus***

We’re delighted to welcome the return of talented musical maestro H Hawkline to Birmingham. Fresh off a major UK support tour with the illustrious Cate le Bon, H Hawkline and band will perform songs from new album In The Pink Of Condition. Hawkline has recently signed to the influential Heavenly Recordings (Beth Orton, Doves, Edwyn Collins etc). Hawkline himself is referring to this new album as "strange pop", informed by Richard Brautigan and Paul McCartney's Ram, with Cate Le Bon handling production duties in Los Angeles. H Hawkline is definitely one to watch.

Joint headline with GWENNO

In a period of governmental and cultural revolution, former Pipettes front-woman, Gwenno Saunders releases a political concept album inspired by an obscure 1970s Welsh language sci-fi novel, subtly disguised as a blissful kraut-pop record.

Written by Gwenno and produced by Rhys Edwards, Y DYDD OLAF (The Last Day) turns its back on predictable commercial aspirations and lifts a defiant middle finger in the direction of the mainstream.

The record is Gwenno’s response to the political upheaval she sees playing out all over Europe – from the borders of Scotland to the Basque country and beyond – as well as a war cry to all those who are dissatisfied with the way things are. Y DYDD OLAF is a political, feminist, brilliantly executed record; and although this particular revolution might not be televised, it certainly will have a great soundtrack.
