GO! Trip - Bristol

International@CampusLife welcomes you to join us on our GO! Trip: Bristol

Please note this event is for students currently enrolled at Swansea University (and their friends / family) and is not open for bookings from the general public. A valid Swansea University Student Number will be required on booking

Date: Saturday 22nd October 2022

Time: Leaving Fulton House, Singleton Campus, at 9am with a pick up at Parc Tawe at 09:15am (click here for location), and Bay Campus Bus Stops at 9:30am. We’ll be leaving Bristol at 5pm. The journey takes between 90 – 120 minutes, so we aim to be back in Swansea by 7pm*

Description: Bristol is a truly unique city – it’s a city of contrasts and a real kaleidoscope of life. The city is located just a few miles over the English border and has incredibly strong links to South Wales. Home to a huge array of historic sights, such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Old Markets, as well as the ultra-modern like the amazing science centre and planetarium – it really is a beautiful mash-up of a place.

The city has so much to do – delve in to history at Brunel’s SS Great Britain (Home - SS Great Britain) or immerse yourself in science and the solar system at We The Curious (We The Curious |).

Fancy a bit of a chilled day? Bristol has an amazing variety of cafes, bars and restaurants including at Wapping Wharf – one of Bristol’s newest neighbourhoods and home to Cargo where you can find independent shops and eateries (Wapping Wharf | Cargo). Shopping? Got that covered - Big brands and fast fashion can be found at Cabot Circus (Cabot Circus) or you can discover the quirky and unusual Old Markets too (St Nicholas Market - Bristol - Visit Bristol) – they’ve been running for over 300 years!

If art is your thing, you’re in for a treat – Bristol is well known as the home of Banksy, but that’s only one of countless artists that thrive here. Take yourself on a self-guided tour of the best of Banksy’s street art (Where The Wall - Where The Wall) or visit any of the galleries that thrive here, the main one being the Arnolfini (Arnolfini - Bristol's International Centre for Contemporary Arts)

This trip is informal and relaxed, so you’ll have the day to spend as you wish –  many places require you to book tickets in advance. Take a look at Visit Bristol - Official Bristol Tourist Information Site for loads more ideas and suggestions of things to do.

This is a ‘free day’ so we won’t be providing a guided tour, you can do as much or as little as you want. We will have our GO! Team trip leaders available to help if you need it, but this is an opportunity for you to get out-and-about and explore a new place – and trust us, Bristol is such a friendly place to explore!

We are also hosting a Meet-Up Mixer for those of you who are coming along to Bristol – this is a chance to meet others coming along and possibly plan some things to do together – head here for info - GO! Social: Meet-Up Mixer - Bristol at The Griffin, Swansea on 20th Oct 2022 | Fatsoma
