UNC!

It started, like most things do, with my staff taking the piss.

“Alright, Unc.”

Now, not knowing what fresh TikTok born insult had just been launched in my direction, I did some research.
A dangerous move.

Apparently, “Unc” is what the youth call you when you’re old, culturally past it, and one opinion away from saying “they don’t make music like they used to.”

Which, after further investigation… felt less like an insult and more like a fair assessment.

Because somewhere between hearing the word “lore” used in a serious sentence and watching 19 year olds discover songs that were already massive before they were born, I realised something:

I’m not out of touch.
I’m just right.

So, I’ve decided to put my money where my mouth is. Properly.

Saturday 16th May, Sin City presents UNC!
Nothing But Dad Rock.
A full blown celebration of the era when indie ruled, rock had swagger, and songs became anthems without needing to go viral for 8 seconds first.

Oasis. Arctic Monkeys. Blur. Pulp. The Killers. Franz Ferdinand. Kasabian. Kings of Leon. Bloc Party. Nirvana.
The sort of music your dad still bangs on about… because, irritatingly, he should.

No gimmicks. No trends. No “core”.
Just absolute wall to wall proof that a lot of you were handed smartphones before you were handed taste.

And because I’m committing to the bit… dress as your dad and get in free.
Bad polos. Faded jeans. BBQ stained white trainers. Sunglasses that haven’t suited anyone since 2006.

So yes… maybe I am Unc.

But if being Unc means knowing your generation didn’t invent good music, then fair enough.

I’ll take it.
