A Monster Calls

Based on the novel by Patrick Ness and inspired by an original idea by Siobhan Dowd, devised by Sally Cookson, Adam Peck and the Company.

‘Stories are wild creatures’, the monster said. ‘When you let them loose, who knows what havoc they might wreak?’

Connie has the same dream every night, ever since her mother first fell ill and started the treatments that don’t quite seem to be working. But tonight is different. Tonight, when Connie wakes, there’s a visitor at her window. A monster has come walking. It’s ancient, elemental, a force of nature. It’s come to tell Connie tales from when it walked before. And when it’s finished, it wants the most dangerous thing of all. It wants the truth.

A Monster Calls is an extraordinary and heart-breaking tale of love, loss, hope, and above all, the courage it takes to survive.
