AN INTIMATE EVENING WITH JO HARMAN - VOICE AND PIANO TOUR

Following the impressive critical reaction to their sell out duo show in Netherlands last year where Jo is signed to V2 records (Adele, Mumfords etc), they enjoyed the experience so much that she will be playing a limited tour of voice and piano shows in the UK at selected venues.

This very special, intimate, show will feature soulful, compelling performances featuring not only 'bare-to-the-bone' versions of Jo's own songs but also her own take on songs that mean something special to her.

Jo Harman is, of course, an award winning vocalist and successful international touring artist who has performed at some of Europe's most prestigious venues. The Daily Mirror called her 'the finest female soul blues vocalist in the UK' and Huey Morgan said on his Radio 2 programme 'sometimes you hear a voice that leaves you speechless...I am'. She is widely recognised as one of the finest vocalists of her kind to emerge in Europe over recent years, and has the CV,  touring schedule and industry admirers to back it up. Some brief career highlights to date include:-

·   her DIY debut album, released in 2013, was picked up V2 Records (Adele, Mumfords) etc in the Low Countries where it made the national album charts (alongside mainstream TV and Radio appearances for Jo)

·   from standing start in 2011, she has played around 100 festivals in recent years - many as headliner - across a number of countries, simply by dint of 'word of mouth' reputation, culminating in 3 consecutive appearances at 'BluesFest', one of which resulted in her 'Jo Harman Live at The Royal Albert Hall recorded by the BBC' live album. Jo was also one of only 12 (otherwise household name) artists to play ParkPop in the Hague to 300,000 people.

·  in 2014 Jo and her band received no less than 4 nominations for at the British Blues Awards, including 'Best Female Vocalist', which she won, and best songwriter (runner-up). She subsequently asked not to be considered for future awards, citing 'music isn't supposed to be a competition'

·  Jo was one of a handful of artists asked to appear at Amnesty's 'Ambassador of Conscience' Awards in Berlin (filmed by MTV) where she performed for, and with, Joan Baez and Patti Smith.

·  Jo has just recorded a big budget second studio album in Nashville, working with producer Fred Mollin (Carole King, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, BB King etc) where Michael McDonald makes a guest appearance (not public knowledge yet, though please)

In this duo show, Jo really takes you on an emotional journey and, if the Dutch shows were anything to go by, be prepared not to leave the show dry eyed.

'The room is quiet and every cough is one too many. Emotions are running high. The audience gives the duo a standing ovation. The applause continues and they return it the stage to perform the encore 'Cold Heart'. With a big grin on her face Harman leaves the stage. The CDs and EPs are in high demand. In the spring of 2016 Jo Harman will return to the stage with her band, but with just a pianist to accompany them can also easily fill large halls. She is simply great, perhaps even most impactful, in even the most minimalist of settings'. .3voor12 (Netherlands)

'Mesmeric ....barely a dry eye in the house....Harman, in barest form, has that rare ability to tap into people's souls' National Radio 6 (Netherlands)
