DECEMBER 17TH GRINSTOCK COMEDY CLUB LINE-UP
After an amazing first night of our 11th season of providing award winning comedy to the South East, we roll into our 2nd night of the season. As always, we pride ourselves on amazing line ups, bringing the biggest and best acts on the circuit to your doorstep.
Now running for our second year out of the grand ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, being the nicest venue for miles around and with free onsite parking an a set menu of excellent food on offer every night and even drinks you can order from your table by text, delivered to you and taking the hard work out of your night.
Last month saw 197 through the door so still the biggest monthly independent night of Comedy in Sussex and the South East and with a 70% room attendance of regulars that have been coming for years, it’s a great sign that our nights are excellent, well run and bring great value. Especially when you think it’s cheaper then the train fare to London or Brighton.

Probably the most multi-national comedian you will ever see, Javier Jarquin started out joking around at high school before cutting his teeth on the New Zealand circuit. Resident in the UK since Javier Jarquin 2010, the change of country has occasionally baffled this observational comedian;
“Boots doesn’t actually sell shoes whereas Office does!”
After winning the 2007 ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition in Christchurch Javier performed at New Zealand and Melbourne’s biggest comedy clubs, on television and was a core member of New Zealand’s longest running comedy show: Scared Scriptless. A unique and extremely adaptable performer, Javier has won numerous awards ranging from ‘Best Show Wellington‘ at the 2010 New Zealand International Comedy Festival right up to ‘Best National Artist‘ at the World Buskers Festival!

He was one of the in house comedians on Yahoo Sport’s The Football's Show for the 2018/19 season having starred in Yahoo’s 2018 World Cup show; The 32.
He is also the host of the Crystal Palace FC themed FYP Podcast, one of the UK's most downloaded independent football podcasts and BLANK, which was nominated at the British Podcast Awards 2019 less than a year after starting.
He is a standup comedian and has performed around the UK alongside acts like Jon Richardson, Doc Brown, Holly Walsh, Reginald D Hunter and more less famous people. He has taken two shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, neither of which were reviewed.
He has also written for legendary London sketch show News Revue (one parody song which was selected for their 2013 Edinburgh Fringe showcase) and was resident comedy song writer and performer at the award winning Football Special show.
He was a Fosters Golden Jester semi-finalist in 2013 and 2014 and that’s literally the best he’s done in comedy competitions which is like going out in the FA Cup third round let’s be totally honest.

In October 2004 Gareth Richards did his first ever gig aboard the Wibbly Wobbly boat, a notorious venue compered by alternative comedy veteran Malcolm Hardy. Gareth Richards’ hilarious stand-up and “gorgeously low-key comedy songs” (The Guardian) have made him an instant favourite on the comedy circuit. He was a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2007 competition, and was runner-up in the Amused Moose Laugh-Off 2007.
In 2010 he took his first solo stand up show, “Stand Up Between Songs” to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was nominated for Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer. He has taken a show to Edinburgh nearly every year since, and in 2018 is performing his eighth solo show, “Prophet” at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
On Television Gareth has appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3), Live at the Electric (BBC3) and the children’s TV panel show The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). He has performed Live on BBC Radio 1, and has recorded stand up sets for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 2. Gareth co-hosted Frank Skinner’s Sony award-winning Absolute Radio show for two years and still regularly fills in. He supported Frank on his 2014 tour.
