Description:

Spend a day exploring St Davids – Britain’s smallest city, with a population of just over 1,600 people! It is the final resting place of the Patron Saint of Wales, Saint David. Please be aware that for some of the attractions, you will have to pre-book your tickets - please check their websites for details.

One of the main attractions of this city is St Davids Cathedral. Built in the 12th century, it is constructed from dusky purple sandstone and it’s one of Wales’ most iconic religious sites and sits tucked away in a sheltered vale beside the River Alun. If you visit this beautiful Cathedral, you can learn about the history of St Davids, visit the impressive Treasury collection and enjoy home-cooked and locally-sourced food at The Refectory. Find out more at: Welcome | St Davids Cathedral

If you fancy checking our some amazing art, St Davids boasts a highly rated and respected landscape gallery, Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre, which also holds exhibitions and events too. Check their website for info.

There are independent café’s, coffee shops and more to explore - 8 of the Best Coffee Spots in St Davids - St Davids Escapes. You can also spend some time taking in the natural beauty of the Welsh coastline by taking a stroll down Wales Coastal Path. It will take around an hour and 15 mins to walk the loop around Saint Davids Head coastal walk

If you like to pay homage to the Saint of David and his mother, you can take a visit to St Non’s Chapel - said to be the 6th-century birthplace of the patron saint of Wales, it is named after his mother, and remains a place of pilgrimage to this day. The small, rectangular chapel may be plain and simple, but its setting overlooking rocky St Non’s Bay is breathtaking. On the path leading up to the chapel you’ll pass a holy well believed to possess curative powers, another popular stop for visiting pilgrims.

You can read more about what there is to see and do in St Davids here: St Davids Peninsula Tourist Association

We’re not able to provide a ‘guided tour’ of St Davids, so we suggest making some plans for your time there before you go. We are also hosting a Virtual Meet-Up Mixer for those of you who are coming along to St Davids – this is a chance to meet others coming along and possibly plan some things to do together –  GO! Social: Virtual Mixer - St Davids & St Fagans at Swansea University, Swansea on 24th Feb 2022 | Fatsoma

We hope you'll come along on this enjoyable day away!
