The Stage @ The Greedy Flea

A night of live local music coming to the Greedy Flea (Mercantile Flea) in Bitterne. £5 Tickets, for 5 local acts.

The Guillotine Union Boys: The wokeabilly band that neoliberal authoritarians love to hate. Join the Reverend Sam and Bo Gallows' picket line as they bring their brand of hometruth agit-folk to the masses. With lightning-quick finger picking, stomping rhythms, and rallying rebel yells, this act is for the many, not the few

Brandon Cooke: had never really taken a serious interest in music until he saw a live performance at his secondary school at age 12. Before that night instruments had always seemed like objects to just have fun with, but the performance he witnessed, plus a newfound interest in the works of French film composer Yann Tiersen opened Brandon’s mind up to the possibilities of music as an art form. Using the varying difficulties of Yann Tiersen’s compositions, Brandon taught himself the rules of music by learning to play a keyboard given to him by his mother as a Christmas present, which could often be used for hours a day to the extent that many of its keys are now broken. In college Brandon began to really develop his own taste for music as he became obsessed with progressive rock and metal form multiple generations. The music theory displayed within the songs as well as fan communities on social media allowed Brandon to take a more hands-on approach to learning theory, which combined with his constant urge to play helped him to develop his own sound, though it still needed a lot of refinement at the time. At University Brandon began to develop an interest in playing guitar and later bass, which lead to performances on multiple instruments with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. Brandon’s music tastes also began to shift at University, with prog being traded out for the more commercial alternative rock genre. Since being awarded a 1st Class Honours degree in commercial songwriting at Uni in 2019, Brandon has never let go of his constant hunger for new music, and this has helped him to refine his sound overtime and exhibit the artistry that he admires in so many others.

Roger Chantler: Local legend Rodger Chandler has been entertaining the local music scene with his original rock 'n' roll tunes for many a year. A regular at pretty much all the open mics in Southampton. Recently he has performed live at HMV live on outreach radio and also gigged at the Rockstone. Rodger is always a crowd-pleaser and gets the crowd going with his energetic performances.
