Theme this year is MASQUERADE BALL - think long dresses, tuxedos, casino royale vibes.

MSU are please to announce the 1st Act confirmed! The Vibes and that after his popular set in 2019 May Ball we are pleased to announce the return of Tom Beattie.

About The Vibes

The Vibes play high energy, high quality indie anthems by bands such as Oasis, Kings of Leon, Stereophonics, Kasabian, Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Enemy, Libertines, View, Hives, Strokes, The Vaccines etc etc etc. Loads of bands try to play ‘something for everyone’, but we can’t be messing around with depressing melancholy or ‘golden oldies’ – it’s just upbeat rabble-rousers to get any bar, party, wedding or corporate event rocking from the first song until the last. The Vibes just stick to what we know and love – it’s indie rock and roll all the way - if you like that you’ll love us! Check out our mp3s, videos, pictures and wall comments, but there’s no substitute to a live performance – come to one of our gigs to see what we’re all about. 

The 5 piece band include Andy Brown (lead vocals), Phil Brown (guitar and backing vocals), Phil Burgoyne (guitar) , Martin Cocks (bass) and Mike Parker (drums). 

Brothers Andy and Phil Brown now also perform as 'The Vibes Unplugged' as an acoustic duo (or three piece with Mike Parker on percussion) so if the band aren't available or you want acoustic music more then this provides another option. 

The band has been playing together for 6 years building solid reputation with live music fans and music venues across Plymouth and the surrounding area. The band have played hundreds gigs ranging from bars, Student Balls, Services event / balls (Army / Navy), Corporate Parties, lots of Weddings and numerous charity events including headlining the Plymouth Sound radio charity, Plymouth Sound Unite Pride of Plymouth Awards. The band has supported 5ive (2012), Dave Vitty (Radio 1's 'Comedy Dave' (2012) Chesney Hawkes (2010), The Wurzels (2010), Lemar (2009), the Artful Dodger (2009) and Utah Saints (2008) at several UCP Marjon's May and Graduation Ball's. 

Although we try to be ‘professional’ we don't take ourselves too seriously and as long as everyone is having a good time we're happy.
