STAY SICK Neil Sick's Big 5-0 Birthday Bash! w/ OH! Gun Quit & Johnny Throtle!

STAY SICK

STAY SICK is BACK, FROM THE GRAVE!!Brighton's infamous delinquent trash garage punk surf beat rock 'n' roll dance party!

Neil Sick's the BIG 5-0 Birthday Blowout

Last month we celebrated 16 years of STAYING SICK with the fantastic Eel Men of old London town and Brighton's atomic surf kings The Atom Jacks and now we're cordially inviting you to join us for an event we never envisaged celebrating at STAY SICK when we started this rock n roll party all those years ago...

Yep, it's no word of a lie, Neil Sick is turning 50 and while he comes to terms with how the hell this has happened we've lined up an incredible live double bill and a host of killer guest DJs who've agreed to be associated and party with STAY SICK's lesser well groomed half and help him grow old disgracefully!

Note: this month we've moved STAY SICK back a week to Sat 11th May, which is a departure from our regular slot but it'll be worth the wait!Playing live we have...

OH! GUNQUIT
https://www.facebook.com/ohgunquit/
https://ohgunquit.bandcamp.comNo strangers to a STAY SICK stage Oh! Gunquit have been mesmerising Stay Sick audiences for over a decade culminating in their incredible headlining performance at our sold out Brighton Fringe SICKSVILLE CARAVANSERAI party last year!Oh! Gunquit are a London based 5-piece Rumble-Bop, Freakabilly Band who concoct a brew of Raw Rock n Roll, Wild Garage Rock and Twisted Surf-Punk. The nucleus of the band started in 2010 after Tina (Vocals/Trumpet) & Simon (Guitar/Vocals) became neighbours and frequenting the same sweaty cellar dance nights around town. They formed the band around the idea of creating a vibrant blend of new-wave vicious Psych-Surf, Garage-Punk, Exotica & Rock n Roll. Oh! Gunquit are named in part to a town in Maine US which was an artists colony in the 1800's originally coined by the Abenaki Indians and in part to the idea of all guns quitting.Currently consisting of the hottest line-up to date this cosmopolitan creature contains members from Italy, USA, Colombia and the UK. The Soundtrack to B-Movies, Road Trips, & Adventuring….. Their unique live gigs are a blur of Howling Vocals, Horns, Buzzsaw Guitars, Rumbling Toms, and Exotic Rock n & Roll fun!

JOHNNY THROTTLE
https://www.facebook.com/johnnythrottlepunk/
https://johnnythrottle.bandcamp.comIf you're of a veteran of a certain STAY SICK vintage then the chances are you know how much Johnny Throttle mean to us. We first put them on supporting King Salami at the now defunct and much missed seafront basement venue the Engine Rooms way back in 2010. We were already huge fans of Portugal's greatest export, The Parkinsons, from a decade or so before so when we found out their wild charismatic frontman, Afonso Pinto, who incidentally we rank alongside our greatest frontmen ever - think Lux from the Cramps, think Iggy from the Stooges, think Guy McKnight from the Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster - WE HAD to put them on! And now, after an absence that's been way, way toooo long, after their last STAY SICK performance at Sticky Mike's (RIP) they're back!!Formed early 2008 by various lowlife has beens and never weres from The Parkinsons, Shakin’ Nasties, Urban Shocks, Jackoffs and Menace, Johnny Throttle play real rock ’n’ roll the way it was meant to be – snotty, moronic and straight to the point. There's been a couple of line up changes since their inception and some of you may recognise long time member, Liam, from our 15th anniversary party when London punk outfit Mapache played. But none the less, the energy, the sound and the attitude remain the same, so hold onto ya bevvies!!"Infectiously nostalgic, energetically unbridled, and irrepressibly excitable the self titled album from UK punks Johnny Throttle is the perfect album. Yes if you analysed it there are edges and elements that could be ‘improved’ but the point of music is to exhilarate, inspire, and give a good time and Johnny Throttle do this in abundance. There are plenty of good punk bands out there right now but there is nothing finer than real 70s punk and with this influencing the heart and attitude oozing vein of Johnny Throttle, there is no finer a bunch of punk reprobates than Johnny Quid and his cohorts." - The RingMaster Review
Plus, plus!

Joining us on the wheels of steel fresh from their latest annual wild weekender we have the awesome duo who are two thirds of the HIPSVILLE a GO GO gang, Mr & Ms A!

Chances are we'll be adding a couple more sick dee-jays to the bill, too, so Neil Sick can focus on black sambas
