To celebrate the opening of Tatale at The Africa Centre, please join us for an Akwasi Brenya-Mensa x Black Eats LDN Brunch on Sunday 10th July at 15:00 - 17:00.
Founder of Black Eats LDN Jackson Mclarty has established his directory from hot sauce brands to pop-ups and full-service restaurants, it is the go-to platform for Black-owned food businesses. This first-of-its-kind website was originally launched to connect food lovers with Black food and beverage brands in London. Now it includes Black-owned businesses up and down the UK with 377 and counting on its roster, spotlighting numerous Black entrepreneurs.
Last year, Black Eats LDN expanded into events with Black-Owned Hackney– a monthly market in Bohemia Place in Hackney with a stellar lineup of Black food and drink producers, artisans, chefs and DJs. After a knock-out year, Jackson has added an evening counterpart to the offering with Black-Owned Hackney Night Market.
Founder of Tatale, the contemporary Pan-African concept, Akwasi, goes back to his culinary roots for a pop-up brunch in collaboration with Black Eats LDN at Tatale's newly renovated home at The Africa Centre. The collaboration will see familiar brunch dishes infused with a taste of home, as well as great tunes and vibes.
Akwasi’s foray into food started with a burger pop-up, Juicy Kitchen, in Sheffield. Partly inspired by childhood memories of breakfast burgers with his dad, the pop-up grew into a restaurant, Fear x Loathing, with a focus on
both burgers and brunch. Starting with what he knew best, his debut supper club series, Mensa, Plates and Friends, first launched with a brunch menu in 2019. Years later, it remains Akwasi’s favourite meal of the day.
