MIM 138: 27th July - Inside #Merky FC HQ Studio with Matt Arthur
Music Industry Mondays (MIM) is a free weekly event series held every Monday, bringing artists, creatives, and industry professionals together with guest speakers from across the music industry. Each session explores a different area of the business - from artists and managers to labels, festivals, publishing, marketing, and beyond. Expect honest insight, practical advice, and real-world experience, followed by an open mic and open Q&A.
Matt Arthur is the Studio Engineer and Manager at #Merky FC HQ Studio, the professional recording facility established by Stormzy and adidas to create opportunity, inspiration and access for young people across South London.
Based in Croydon, Matt oversees the day-to-day running of the studio, working closely with artists, producers, charities and community organisations to help provide meaningful pathways into music and the creative industries. Through #Merky FC HQ, he supports emerging talent by making professional recording facilities and industry expertise more accessible to the next generation.
A graduate of the Abbey Road Institute, Matt combines formal sound engineering training with extensive experience as both an artist and producer. Alongside his studio work, he has spent many years in education as a music teacher, guitar tutor and songwriting mentor, helping young musicians develop their creative and technical skills.
Outside of #Merky FC HQ, Matt is an active freelance producer and performer. He tours internationally with his band The Coo' and works on recordings for independent artists including Gabi Garbutt and Jack Broadbent.
Bringing together expertise in production, education and artist development, Matt offers a unique perspective on how great music is made and how creative communities can help artists thrive.
