Sharratt's journey in the world of illustration and children's literature is nothing short of remarkable. Trained at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University) and St Martin’s School of Art, his career spans various creative realms, including illustration for magazines, advertising, and packaging. However, it's his captivating work in the children's book world that has truly captivated audiences worldwide.
Having collaborated with renowned authors such as Julia Donaldson, Michael Rosen, and Giles Andreae, Sharratt's most notable partnership is with Jacqueline Wilson, which has resulted in illustrating over fifty novels, with sales exceeding a staggering 40 million copies. Beyond illustrating, Sharratt is also a prolific writer, crafting his own delightful picture books that continue to charm readers of all ages.
Recognized with numerous awards, including the Children’s Book Award, the Educational Writers Award, and the Red House Children’s Book Award, Sharratt's contributions to literature are undeniable. He's been the official illustrator for World Book Day and his animated illustrations have graced the screens of beloved BBC children's drama series, ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ and ‘Tracy Beaker Returns’. His creations have also transcended the pages of books to become successful stage adaptations, with 'Shark in the Park' and 'You Choose' delighting audiences worldwide.
