House Folk takes over The Cumberland Arms - one of Newcastle’s most renowned venues for folk music - for a curated night of live music from three of our absolute favourites:
Eddie Doyle is a singer/songwriter hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne. Her evocative music draws from the rich storytelling traditions of cross-European folk. With a unique blend of soulful vocals and intricate melodies, her songs offer a raw and tentative showcase, revealing quiet depth in the reflections she shares.
Mr Saturday Night brings hard-driving bluegrass with a modern twist. Inspired by the Bluegrass Album Band, Lonesome River Band, and Blue Highway, they blend tradition and innovation with fiery picking, rich harmonies, and big Saturday night energy. Featuring Max (guitar), Chris (banjo), Damon (fiddle), and Zack (mandolin), they're all about keeping the stringband spirit alive and kicking.
Staithe is the haunting, minimalist collaboration between Bridie Jackson and Nick Pierce. Combining voice, classical guitar, viola, piano, and subtle electronics, their sound has been described as “joy adjacent and dreamy,” shifting beautifully between intimacy and cinematic scale.
