Pales at The Cluny

“Expect the unexpected.” The motto of Tomi Ungerer, Strasbourg’s enfant terrible, couldhave been written for Pales. Born in the depths of a cellar in 2021, the quintet has no time
for classifications: they forge a raw, visceral sound where industrial, noise and trip-hop
collide, evoking Massive Attack, Sonic Youth and Dry Cleaning.
Brought to European attention with their EP CRUSH, the band have built their reputation on
stage, where their performances induce an irrepressible trance, constantly skirting the
boundaries of chaos. The sound hits hard, hypnotises, triggers spasms and conjures up the
smells of cosmetics and burning rubber.
