Hidden Herd: Currls + Hypsoline + DUDE, MY DUDE + Hongza

Hidden Herd Presents:

CURRLS

Independent garage rockers Currls have been paving their way to something very exciting since forming in 2017. The Brighton-based DIY trio create a compelling mix of raw garage rock, hard-hitting and fast-paced punk and sludgy pop and have previously caught the attention of Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1 and Melita Dennett on BBC Music Introducing, who hunted them down after hearing them at The Great Escape Festival. More recently, the band were featured on Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent longlist for 2022 and, in response to their highly-anticipated debut EP 'Hello My Name Is’, received praise from Amy Lamè and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6 Music, as well as Alyx Holcombe on her BBC Music Introducing Rock show on Radio 1. As Lauren Down described them for The Line Of Best Fit, “CURRLS are a rallying cry. Scuzzy riot grrrl inspired pop-punk made for the main stage. Authentic, snarling and converting you to the band’s cause as she goes.”

Hypsoline

Friends since the awkward years of secondary school Hypsoline have been muddling through life together bringing their victories, hardships and heartbreaks to musical fruition since September 2019. The band consists of Beth Molly Moore, (vocals and guitar) Trilby White (vocals and bass) Natalie Caushaj (guitar) and was made complete in early 2022 when they met Hannah Feenstra (drums). This indie-rock quartet reigns from Brighton and has thrived in the bohemian music scene that the city holds. The bands influences are varied and range from The Pixies and The Beatles to bands like Warpaint, Savages and HAIM. Hypsoline are also influenced by the likes of Lily Allen, The Cranberries and Nilüfer Yanya. All members of Hypsoline are dedicated to captivating their audience with punchy, rhythmic and highly melodic songs that deliver a passionate outlet, just as the creation of the songs provide for the band. Hypsoline have a demanding and powerful stage presence; the atmosphere at a Hypsoline gig is one of a proud individuality and a yearning that speaks directly to the consciousness of a generation.

DUDE, MY DUDE

Blessed with infectious hooks and a winning personality that bleeds through their sound, DUDE, MY DUDE have rapidly established themselves as one of the most fun and raucous acts in the UK right now.

The breakout success of the immediately memorable ‘Loser’ was always going to be a tough act to follow, but the sheer ambition and energy of it’s follow up ‘Bike Ride’ has ensured that the outfit continue to shine. The track is stacked full of guile and variety and seems to mutate and grow as it progresses, collapsing into a rousing mesh of harmonies and guitars. ‘Bike Ride’ is a fun and endlessly memorable experience that reaffirms DUDE, MY DUDE as an outfit to seriously watch out for.

Hongza

Following the success of his debut EP Gen Z, which saw support from Apple Music Beats 1, Live Nation’s Ones to Watch and Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock, TikTok influencer and voice of Gen-Zs Hongza returns with the new single ‘Decay’

Spending his life feeling like an outcast due to his ethnicity, the track is acting as a step towards Hongza supporting people who may be feeling similar to him. With his constant championing of British Asian musicians through his TikTok platform (39K followers),

Being rejected by his inner circle has only fuelled his passion for music and desire to follow his dream. Hongza previously fronted shoegaze band DAZE till 2018 sharing stages with the likes of Cassia, Larkins, Judas. Keen to embark on a new chapter, Hongza returns as a solo alternative artist determined to reignite the worlds of indie, pop, and shoegaze.
