Wild Mushroom Forage & Cooking Demo

Join Carl Shillingford, forager and Michel Roux trained chef, and Matthew Rooney, ecologist and mushroom grower, for a fabulous mushroom forage in beautiful Suffolk countryside followed by a delicious wild food cooking demonstration and tasting.

Autumn is the season when mushrooms are bountiful in woods and meadows so join us to discover a variety of fungi, their shapes, colours, smells, textures and tastes - with at least 130 species of fungi recorded at Tiger Hill, from earth stars and bird's nests to beefsteak and chicken of the woods, you are bound to have a very productive forage! 

The day begins with a fabulous guided forage in the woods and fields of Tiger Hill before retiring to the field kitchen for refreshments followed by a delicious wild food cooking demo. 

The day ends with every forager receiving a Goodie Bag with information sheets, recipes and a selection of wild food products including hedgerow pesto, wild soup, dried mushrooms and mushroom sour dough.

Tickets cost just £45 to include refreshments, the guided forage, cooking demo and Goodie Bag.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
By Car: 
Using a Sat Nav the postcode is CO8 5BW. Tiger Hill is close to Arger Fen and near the villages of Assington and Bures.

Parking is free. 

By Train: Nearest station is Bures on the Marks Tey to Sudbury Line. 
By Foot/Bike : Arger Fen is a little over 1 mile from Bures Station. Cross the bridge into the village. Follow the High Street and Cuckoo Hill to join St Edmunds Way Path at Fysh House Farm. At Over Hall Farm follow the road north to Arger Fen and Tiger Hill.

What do I need to bring?
The forage will last a few hours and the ground can be slippery and uneven. You must also be prepared to forage in all weather conditions. 
Please wear waterproof footwear, ideally boots and suitable waterproof clothing if wet weather is forecast. If dry sunny weather is forecast please make sure you have a bottle of water,  sunscreen and a hat. 
It is a good idea to bring a basket for foraging, a notepad and a digital camera if you wish to take photos for identification purposes.
