You’ve spent hours in the studio perfecting your track, but what happens when it’s time to actually put it out? Dropping music in today’s industry is about so much more than just hitting "upload." It takes serious strategy, tight timelines, and a deep understanding of the backend to make sure your release actually reaches ears and gets you paid.
That’s where Kate Hendry comes in. As Head of Label Operations at Absolute (one of the industry's leading independent label services companies), Kate is the mastermind behind the logistics of a successful release. She oversees the vital steps that bridge the gap between a finished master and a track performing well on DSPs like Spotify and Apple Music. In this session, Kate will break down the essential operations of running a release campaign, showing you how to treat your independent drops with the exact same rigor as a major label.
Kate Hendry will present a masterclass covering step-by-step release strategies, the importance of clean metadata, independent distribution models, and operational organization for independent artists. The session will also forecast upcoming changes in the music releasing landscape.
Kate is Head of Label Operations at Absolute Label Services, where she has worked since 2010. She co-leads the label management team and works closely with independent artists and labels on release strategy, marketing, product planning and commercial campaigns. Alongside managing her own roster, Kate supports team development, improves processes across the business and helps bring new clients into Absolute. Her career at the company has taken her from Label Manager to Senior Label Manager and her current role, giving her a broad view of how independent releases come to life from planning through delivery.
