MOBO nominated Afrikan Boy is a renowned “world music” artist with a 21st century edge, taking in musical influences from across the globe whilst keeping a firm foot in the native sound of his country of origin, Nigeria. An AB live show is something to behold; joined by a full band and effortlessly combining Afro-beat, Grime, Jazz, Spoken Word and much more, the performance will challenge any other when it comes to the energy, passion and diversity displayed on stage.
Afrikan Boy’s constantly evolving musical talent has seen him work alongside a diverse range of established artists such as Seun Kuti, MIA, DJ Shadow, Damon Albarn and DJ Yoda. He has conquered stages across the globe, from the festival fields of Glastonbury and WOMAD to the sands of Australia’s Gold Coast where he performed as part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games celebrations to a worldwide TV audience of multi-millions. His past releases continue to gain regular airplay with his much loved ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ track being a frequent part of BBC 6Music’s soundtrack.
September sees the release of Afrikan Boy’s second album ‘Peppeh Sounds’. This brand new LP sees him continue to fuse a myriad of styles, from afrobeats, bashment and Arabian sounds, to contemporary up-tempo House and Grime influences that once again, proves his credentials as a true innovator in contemporary world music.
2019 will see a steady flow of music released for AB with the first single from “Peppeh Sounds 2” dropping in January, the full LP release in late February and further singles regularly coming out up until the summer months. Another full artist album “Life in the West” is scheduled for an October release around the same time as his stage show collaboration with Hassan Hajjaj called ‘My Rock Stars Series” which will be held and produced at Ford Theater in Los Angeles.
