Healing Tales

At the height of the Flu pandemic in 1919, Stravinsky wrote A Soldier’s Tale, the story of a soldier returning home from war. A century on, in the 75th anniversary year of the NHS, composer Alan Williams worked with healthcare workers from Bolton NHS Trust to explore their real life stories of the Covid pandemic, and what life was life on an ICU ward. Together they turned their stories into a piece for recorded voices and ensemble. Part concert, part storytelling, this event explores the ingenuity and resilience that kept healthcare teams together and caring for patients.

This world premiere performance of Healing Tales will be given by the Latitude Ensemble, conducted by Chris Clark. The piece will be accompanied by the Suite from Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale. It will also feature live drawing interpretation by artist Adelina Court, and dance interpretation by Lizzy Owen.

All proceeds of this event will go to NHS charities.

ADMISSION: Pay What You Can.

Pay What You Can is an ‘honesty box’ for the theatre. We and the artists will continue to programme and produce high quality events and ask you to pay what you can afford.

As a guide, for those in full time employment we would appreciate you paying between £5 and £15. We also understand people's income can be precarious, hence the lower price options. All revenue from ticket sales for events at New Adelphi Theatre will always go back to support professional artists, through residencies, commissions, touring work or for more bespoke projects where the student experience is enhanced through co-creation with arts professionals. We thank you for all your continued support.

Please note all bookings and donations come with a 50p - 75p booking fee.

Please note that all tickets are for unallocated seating.

Please note: checking the Wheelchair User question will also reserve a free seat for an essential companion.

If you require limited mobility access (step-free), please let a member of staff know upon arrival.

Accessibility is extremely important to us at the New Adelphi Theatre. If you have any accessibility requirements, please email Hannah at the box office at h.c.briggs@salford.ac.uk.
