East Is East (1999) - Screening and Q+A with writer Ayub Khan Din

Join us for an exclusive screening of East Is East with the film's writer, and Salford graduate, Ayub Khan Din, who will be joining us onstage to take part in a Q+A. As part of this event, the University of Salford will be presenting Ayub with its 50th Anniversary Jubilee Award, presented by University Chancellor Jackie Kay.

In 1971, Salford fish-and-chip shop owner George Khan expects his family to follow his strict Pakistani Muslim ways. But his children, with an English mother and having been born and brought up in Britain, increasingly see themselves as British, and start to reject their father's rules on dress, food, religion, and living in general.

We invite you stay behind after the screening for a Q+A.

RATED 15 for for strong language, violence and sexual references.

Admission: Free!
