Three professional works and three newly commissioned student works in one night!

Ripple

Lisa Simpson

Lisa is a Liverpool based choreographer/workshop leader with a disability. She has quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy and no verbal communication; therefore, she choreographs using the Simpson Board, an inexpensive but priceless tool that enables disabled people to choreograph their own work.

Entertaining a Small Place

Bridget Fiske & Joseph Lau

By some form of accident, Bridget was Miss Junior Showgirl at the Kyabram Show circa 1986. Bridget consequently road on the back of a UTE around the football oval in the show parade. Bridget wore a red and white striped skirt and matching top her mum had made. In a new short autobiographical work, Bridget remembers and performs childhood experiences and considers the impacts and complexities of culture, history, politics, environment and community when growing up in a small agricultural town in Australia.

Bilateral

Lizzie Davidson & Callum Newman

Bilateral, meaning “two-sided”, demonstrates how two individuals can come together. Choreographed and performed by Lizzie Davidson and Callum Newman, both graduates of the University of Salford, through energy, power and connectivity, they explore how they can test each other’s limits whilst simultaneously supporting one another. From beginning to end, they converse and negotiate with each other - progressing and building - before finding common ground and settling into a unified state.

This work will take place in Adelphi Atrium at 6.30 pm, prior to the Theatre performances.

We are very excited to have Lisa Simpson and Joseph Lau as this years’ commissioned artists for second and third year students.

First Year students will also perform a short, curtain raiser, following the end of an intensive choreography project and marking the beginning of their journey at Salford.

Admission: £7 / £5
