LCon special ft. Tom Hammond (Heir), Ruby, Mia Jade & Jude Elliot

Gaslight Club returns for a special collaboration with Leeds Conservatoire, home of some of the city’s most exciting fledgling songwriters & performers.

Performing from 8pm we have…

Ruby

RUBY is a 20-year-old alternative-pop singer/songwriter based in Leeds, UK. Fusing indie, pop and elements of jazz, mixed with fiery vocals, RUBY's sound is one you have to hear for yourself. She takes huge inspiration from artists such as Orla Gartland, HAIM, Donna Missal and FLETCHER. Ruby's passion for songwriting sparked after she started learning the guitar, age 12, and she was soon busking on the streets of her hometown, York, and picking up gigs. Since then, she has performed at venues such as Gorilla, Night People, The Duchess, The Basement and many more. Her debut single 'Hooked on Your Mind', released on the 3rd July, has been well received. "'Hooked On Your Mind' is a passionate, aural representation of the inner turmoil you experience when you start developing feelings for somebody you know you shouldn't." (Guilty Feet) “‘Hooked on Your Mind’ opens with a gentle guitar riff which slowly builds as the track progresses, adding layers of sensual percussion and bluesy piano as a bed for Ruby’s heartfelt vocals. Bold in her identity, Ruby doesn’t shy away from exploring toxic relationships as an LGBT artist, which is exactly what the lyrical content of the track aims to do.” (Baby Step Magazine) https://open.spotify.com/track...

Mia Jade

First-year song writing course at Leeds conservatoire, the arts has been her passion since she was very young. Mia has been writing music for around 3 years, and it’s what she loves to do. Everything that happens in life inspires her to write – whether it be good or bad. As an artist Mia writes about what is truly on her mind, her listeners will know if she is euphoric or heart broken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Jude Elliot

Singer and songwriter from south east London, a place that has had a huge musical impact on him as he's been surrounded by the sounds of soul and jazz from a young age. With artists like Tom Misch and The Ezra Collective also originating from south east London, it was a perfect place to grow and develop his musical styling. As for his own artistry, Jude takes great influence from the likes of Rex Orange County and Daniel Caesar, who’s use of jazz chords and soulful melodies really impacted him. This has led him to creating music in the genre of bedroom pop, a community of creators who use the tools around them to make music that is truly them. Lyrically, his background in poetry and story writing, which lends itself well to creating succinct worlds within music, las heard on his debut EP which tells a full story over its track list but also has individually poetic moments. Overall, Jude Elliot loves blending the rich sounds of jazz chords with a touch of personal and heartfelt lyrics together to create deep and immersive music that can be enjoyed on many levels. https://linktr.ee/JudeElliot
