Dance@Salford Welcomes you to join us for Watch US Dance 26. The evening begins with two performances in the New Adelphi Atrium; New Wave is a vibrant showcase celebrating a new generation of dancers within Coalesce Youth Dance. This performance brings together an exciting cohort of emerging artists to share their individual strengths, creativity and versatility.
Through a collection of dynamic movement and performance episodes, the dancers will demonstrate their unique capabilities while exploring what it means to come together as a company.
Sharing by The Collective / MA Dance is developed through a series of studio practice sessions. This dynamic and expressive performance combines a range of movement energies, textures, and qualities, highlighting a shared celebration of each dancer's individuality, performance presence, and distinctive movement style.
Moving into the theatre, we have 1947 Delayed ETA1950, a choreography created by Lisa Cullen and the First Year students in their first six weeks with Dance@Salford. The first time these young performers have danced together, they perform a work inspired by the music and fashion of the 1940’s, train journeys, their experiences whilst travelling, and a sprinkle of surrealism.
Made in collaboration with students and directed by Emmy Lahouel (Meraki Collective), Repetitive Beats is inspired by UK rave culture’s relationship with land and public space, where gathering and dancing become acts of disruption and resistance. The work celebrates rave as a radical act and the dance floor as a place of freedom.
Beat after beat, bodies move, people find their people and the effects of the night last well past morning...
Emmy has worked with the students to develop a new dance piece inspired by the radical legacy of rave culture and the free party movement.
Originally created for the Emergence 2025 programme and then restaged for 2026, “EUPHORIA” is an adrenaline-fuelled work that explores the complex possibilities between dance and music interplay, uncovering each performer’s journey of trying to break away from social norms, investigating both introvert and extrovert behaviours of their ego.
Demonstrated through Arnott’s trademark movement language that is inspired by both contemporary and classical techniques, whilst working alongside Assistant Choreographer Lisa Marie Robinson, “EUPHORIA” invites the audience into a world of celebratory, powerful physicality performed to exhilarating original music.
This new reimagined “EUPHORIA” production set to original music by James Keane will be restaged by Joss Arnott Dance Artist and Emergence Rehearsal Director Yue Ying Ho.
