For the first show in our series of events in The Mezz at Gisburn Forest Hub, we welcome GETNER + BRICKHOUSE.
The Mezz at Gisburn Forest, Clitheroe, United Kingdom
The Mezz, an indoor space at Stephen Park, Gisburn Forest.
Although we're based within Gisburn Forest, this is not an outdoor event. You'll be enjoying live music inside a comfortable indoor venue, so there's no need to prepare for an outdoor concert.
Please note that camping is not permitted on-site, and we ask everyone to make travel arrangements before attending. If you
Unfortunately, The Mezz is not currently wheelchair accessible. We know this is disappointing and are committed to improving accessibility wherever possible. If you have any questions about access requirements, please get in touch before booking.
We believe live music should be accessible to as many people as possible. That's why, for this event series, we've introduced sliding-scale ticket pricing. Everyone enjoys exactly the same event, and the different ticket options simply reflect what you're able to contribute.
If you're in a position to pay a little more, your support helps us offer lower-cost tickets to others while continuing to pay artists fairly and develop grassroots live music in the Ribble Valley.
All tickets have an additional £0.75/£0.90 booking fee
Low Income: For anyone who would benefit from a lower ticket price. No proof or explanation is required. If this option makes attending possible for you, it's yours to use.
General Admission: Our standard ticket price. This reflects the true cost of attending while helping us continue to bring independent artists to the area.
General Admission + Donation: Pay a little extra to support the future of the series. Your donation helps keep tickets affordable, supports artist fees and enables us to continue building a sustainable grassroots live music programme.
These events are suitable for ages 12+.
Please be aware that performances may include strong language or other content intended for adult audiences.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the event.
Gisburn Forest is a beautiful destination, but we know it's not the easiest place to reach without a car.
If you're driving, we'd love to encourage car sharing wherever possible. It's a great way to reduce costs, lessen our environmental impact and help more people attend.
Looking for a lift or happy to offer one? Get in touch and we'll do our best to connect people travelling from similar areas.
If there's enough interest, we're also exploring shared minibus transport from nearby towns. If you'd be interested in this, let us know.
We also have 5 travel bursaries of £10 per person available for this show to help reduce the cost of attending. If travel costs are a barrier, please get in touch at soitgoesgang@gmail.com, we'd love to help make it possible for you to join us.
With a little luck, things might be looking up. GETNER offers hope where historical and autobiographical meet. Two Derry boys and two Northern souls united by a shared statement of anti-oppression, the band navigate modern day frustrations by combining lived experiences and family tales of fraught times. Shot with an energetic charge of potent post-punk, they harness intergenerational trauma from upbringing in a post-Troubles, pre-streaming world, to kick capitalism and colonialism in the knackers - and with good craic whilst they are at it. “History is the most important thing you can learn about because it informs everything in the future,” they say. “Our songs are steeped in volatile times; stories we’ve heard, read about, and the traumatic aftermath surrounding us as we grew up.”
Some bands expect attention; GETNER graft for it. Edging ever closer to the Later… with Jools Holland, Glastonbury, and Reading & Leeds stages they’d watch on TV as teens, they’re swiftly racking up gig namedrops as regulars at Rat & Pigeon, having played reputable shows for Akoustik Anarkhy, Strange Days, Far Out, Fifth Floor and DIY, FC United, AIM @ Great Escape, with maybe soon, even a DJ set or two. GETNER’s musical revolution is happening right now and as they make their own mark on history, they’re blazing a trail so others can follow. “We hope the songs shed light on events and experiences people can learn from,” they say. “It’s important to say something with our art, now more than ever."
Brickhouse consists of Sharp (vocals/rhythm guitar), Max Duffy (lead guitar/backing vocals), Alex Price (bass) and Freddie Haigh (drums). Brickhouse previously played together at during their formative years in the Calderdale Valley before continuing to explore the project’s possibilities while at university in Manchester.
Manchester-based four-piece, Brickhouse release their debut single Angel Eyes, a track picks at gritty grunge and noise-pop influences while dialling into the heroin haze of 60’s experimental rock. Focusing the mind on themes of memory and loss and evoking the uncompromising static of The Jesus and Mary Chain and the measured rebellion of The Velvet Underground, the reverb-heavy introducer counts as immediate, vital listening. Written by charismatic vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Owain Sharp, on an acoustic guitar in his childhood bedroom over a solitary Christmas, the song deals with the aftermath of an ended relationship and the difficulty in separating the past from the present.
