Step Into the shoes of your heroes as you learn to punch, kick and grapple for the stage!
Specifically tailored for ages 13-17, you will be guided through exciting introductory unarmed techniques for beginners. This weekly Unarmed course will teach you important industry skills and build your confidence, communication and teamwork. Across the six weekly sessions you will learn the basics, be taught a section of choreography, add a script, mould this into a scene, and finally perform your scene for an examiner on the final day. Once you have successfully completed your training, we will grant you a Foundation Stage Combat Certificate which will be presented to you. This is a 6 week course. Please only book a space if you're able to attend all 6 dates: Monday 10th November, Monday 17th November, Monday 24th November, Monday 1st December, Monday 8th December and Monday 15th December. Sessions are 4.15pm-6.15pm.
About the workshop facilitator:
Becca Osborne started her stage combat journey back in 2018 and began her teaching journey in 2022. An experienced stage combat performer and actor combatant, Becca is trained in numerous disciplines from unarmed to axe and shield to rapiers. A core member of the teaching team at Rebel Action, Becca has also spent time assisting at the Royal Shakespeare Company, LAMDA and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Becca has been working closely with local creative bodies such as Rag and Bone Arts, and has helped to guide a plethora of students from their first taste of combat to daring fight scenes and everything in between. Her teaching style is patient, empathetic, and encouraging; she is committed to helping each student as an individual to grow and achieve.
