Film Night: I, Daniel Blake

Cinema Guiildford are delighted to announce the first film of our Spring season will be Ken Loach's Palme d'Or winning social commentary on the injustices of the British welfare system. Loach weaves many moments of quiet brilliance into a dignified film containing hilarity and genuine heartbreak.

The film tells the story of an unlikely but tender friendship between a single mother from London with two kids, and a Geordie carpenter in his late fifties who's out of work and recovering from a heart attack. A skull-shaking study of the Kafkaesque lunacy of Britain's benefit bureaucracy. Deeply funny yet darkly emotive, this is a film of moving relevance.
