Hartlepool’s MARKETPLACE have become renowned for their brand of indie pop earworms and have earned their devoted fanbase along the way. Off the back of engaging headline shows, the band are set to release their debut EP “MARKETPLACE HAVE MADE AN EP” on 4th October 2024, which will further solidify their position as one of the most exciting emerging artists in the North East right now.

Previous releases taken from the EP have seen the band soar to new heights, achieving radio plays by Jess Iszatt on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing show as well as being named “Ones to Watch” by BBC Introducing in the North East, and receiving Track of the Week on 3 separate occasions. The band have also received editorial playlisting support from Apple Music and will be touring EU/UK in Early 2025.

Drawing influences from a wide range of artists including Alvvays, Declan McKenna, Pulp and Talking Heads, the band made up of Evie Rhodes (vocals/guitar), Joel O’Beirne (vocals/bass), Jack Purcell (guitar), Matthew Short (synth/vocals) and Ross Dixon (drums) bring their own individual tastes to create the signature MARKETPLACE sound.

With widespread backing already from tastemakers, support slots with Alfie Templeman, Swim Deep, The Lottery Winners and Abbie Ozard as well as selling out gigs in Manchester, Leeds and their hometown of Hartlepool, MARKETPLACE are certainly ready to make their mark.

“The EP is crafted with foot-tapping tempos, gorgeous hooks and anthemic choruses, which burst from the speaker with youthful enthusiasm and infectious joy.” – NARC Magazine

MARKETPLACE who groove up the room with a loose and vibrant show – eccentric synth warbling capitalises on the funk induced by two glistening disco balls and dual vocalists show off a bright array of tunes, including teases of future material.” – Clash Magazine
