Stand Up in the Basement Comedy - Paul McCaffrey* | Harriet Kemsley *Line-up Change

Southampton once-a-month-on-a-Tuesday Comedy Club, now at Heartbreakers venue

No prizes for guessing that STAND UP IN THE BASEMENT is a stand up comedy night and guess what? It’s on a Tuesday night! Meaning you get to see top TV comics making you chuckle in the same room, and for a fraction of the normal price!

As well as familiar faces from TV, we feature some of the best circuit comics, plus new raw talent and occasionally a few big names who wanna come and try out some new material. It’s tailor-made for people who love live comedy! You’ll get to see a diverse range of comic talent in an intimate space.

* As per the nature of the beast, Gbemi is now unable to make February's show, in his place will be

“McCaffrey simply has funny bones” – Shortlist

“Born to be a Comic” – The Scotsman

“The relaxed, assured confidence of a stadium filler” – Chortle

“Charm, charisma and success written all over him” – The Evening Standard

‘A total natural, his storytelling is utterly unique and never anything less than gut-bustlingly hilarious’ – GQ

Star of Live at The Apollo (BBC), Impractical Jokers (BBC Three), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three), Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), 50 Funniest (Channel 4) and The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). An accomplished radio presenter and guest, Paul has recently been heard on: talkSPORT, The Alternative Vote (Absolute), Rob Beckett’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Football (Absolute) and Russell Kane’s Whistlestop Tour (BBC Radio 2). He also presents The Paul McCaffrey Show every Saturday morning on Jack FM.

Guaranteed to lift the mood in any room, Gbemi is one of the most talked about comedy names on the circuit. An exciting new voice, he’s known for his charismatic and playful approach to contentious topics. He regularly plays prestigious rooms such as Top Secret Comedy Club, The Comedy Store and Up The Creek.

Series writer on Sky One’s Fantasy Football League starring Matt Lucas,  Andrew Mensah’s Stand up Walkabout for BUZZ 16, writer and star of award-winning F*ck My Life – Most Racist Uber Ride Ever, support for Babatunde Aléshé and Mo Gilligan. Broadcast Digital Award Winner, Max Turner Prize Winner, The Comedy Store King Gong Winner, The Blackout Up The Creek Winner, BBC New Comedian of the Year Nominee,

Harriet couldn't make November's show last minute, so she'll be storming the stage Feb '24 instead

Harriet Kemsley is an awkwardly chaotic force on stage as she apparently is in life. Straight out of the traps, she’s into disarmingly frank stories and is unguarded and outwardly messy, but between all the confessions and wackiness she slips in some weighty themes by stealth. "At the dawn of her TV career" (Radio Times), You'll have seen her on: Live at the Apollo, 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, Hypothetical, Roast Battle, Guessable, As Yet Untitled, Comedy Central at the Comedy Store, Bobby & Harriet Get married.

'Packs in high calibre jokes" – Guardian. **** "A masterful hour" – Skinny. **** – Scotsman. ****– List. **** – Fest.

‘A quirky very funny new stand up… her style is refreshingly original and she’s a seriously good writer‘ – Time Out

Our compere and your host for Stand in The Basement, Colin Owens, is an award-winning stand-up comedian, who has worked with Jimmy Carr, the teams behind The Inbetweeners and Mighty Boosh. Described as ‘laconic and charming’, Colin talks about his failings, inadequacies, mistakes and general stupidity, all tinged with an air of paranoia and insecurity, but delivered with supreme confidence and sexual edginess!

“Genuinely Brilliant” – Jimmy Carr
“Brilliant performer” – Frank Skinner
“Brilliant, like a funny neighbor” – Tim Vine
“I knew he’d be funny and he was” – Michael McIntyre
