For the past few years at BODA, something lovely has been happening. Rooms full of strangers have turned into friendships, kisses have been shared on dance floors, numbers scribbled onto napkins, dates planned, and proper meet-cutes unfolding right in front of us.

Whether it’s romance, a new best friend, or simply the joy of being in a room where everyone is in the same chapter of life, there’s something special about single people gathering offline.

This May we’re taking over the iconic Desert 5 Spot for a BODA singles social with a wholesome twist - think dancehall energy, live music, and the kind of atmosphere where meeting someone feels easy, natural, and just a little bit cinematic.

The venue will be exclusively ours for 200 BODA guests from 6:30pm–10:30pm. 

What to expect:

• Come solo. Around 95% of our guests attend alone, so if you’re the only single one in your friendship group please don’t miss out. Walking in solo often means leaving with a whole new group of people.

• A room where everyone is single. One of the only rules we have: you must be single to enter. No couples, no plus-ones, no awkward third wheels, just a room full of people open to meeting someone new.

• A little Dutch Courage. Desert 5 Spot will be offering complimentary welcome shots for BODA guests but they can only be redeemed with someone you don’t know in the room.

• Dance like people used to. At 9:30pm, Desert 5 Spot will host a complimentary dance lesson, the perfect excuse to ask someone to dance without the awkwardness.

• Live music to end the night. From 10:30pm, the venue opens to the public and the live band kicks off, turning the evening into a full dancehall moment.

• No speed dating, no forced icebreakers. Just great music, flowing conversation and the possibility of bumping into someone who might just change your plans for the evening.

Our community tends to attract brilliant, thoughtful people who prefer a slower, kinder, more human approach to dating, an antidote to the fast-swiping culture many singles are tired of.

Essential boring bits:

• This particular social is for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s - as long as you’re 21+, everyone is welcome, whatever your sexuality or gender.

• We cannot control gender ratios on the night (men to women, women to women, men to men etc), but we always aim for a great mix of ages, personalities and energies so everyone has a brilliant evening.

• Due to the nature of the event, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Tickets may only be resold to someone of the same gender category listed on the ticket.

• By purchasing a ticket you consent to BODA capturing photos and videos at the event for use across our social channels.
