** WHERE IT ALL BEGAN **
Since 1970, Wylye Valley Disabled Children’s Riding Fund has been financing horse riding holidays for physically disabled children between the ages of 11 and 16. Every summer, up to 20 children, along with a dedicated team of volunteer helpers, spend a week under canvas in Heytesbury Park near Warminster. The camp is a completely self-contained community that brings together horses and people to create a unique environment combining learning, therapy and fun...really....it’s lots and lots of fun for everyone involved.
But it aint cheap to put on a week of this kind and inevitably the camp expenditure is a huge amount. Not only do we need to cover food and consumable catering items for 90 mouths 3 times a day but also marquees for the holiday children’s sleeping accommodation, activities, day trips, resources, coach hire and insurance. Phew! Although volunteers contribute greatly towards the cost of their meals to offset the food bill, there is always a great need to raise funds and this is where Punchbowl Farm Festival comes in!
Wylye Valley Disabled Children’s Riding Fund is a charity very close to the hearts of the crew behind Punchbowl Festival, which is why every single penny goes straight into the charity pot. This helps to ensure that we can continue providing such an important and wonderful experience for these inspiring young people.
