Music:Leeds presents Crake, Living Body & Night Giants #saveourvenues livestream

Music:Leeds and Oporto present Virtual House Gig #3, a live streaming show featuring artists selected from the first wave of Music:Leeds Launchpad callout 2020 and raising funds for Oporto's Save Our Venues campaign.

Virtual House Gig #3 features:

Living Body

Living Body is the project from Leeds-based Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith (f.k.a. Juffage), with longtime collaborators Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin, Sleater-Kinney, Courtney Barnett, Wild Beasts), Tom Evans (Vessels), Alice Rowan (Mayshe-Mayshe), Sarah Statham (Crake, Fig by Four, Esper Scout) and Jack Burgess-Hunt.

Expanding on the need for music to bring joy into the lives of others, and Smith’s fascination with the contortion of the pop song into a uniquely imaginative and immediate form, Living Body aims to exist in a world of skin and information overload.

Crake

Crake live in a world where it is perpetually Autumn but are also currently based in Leeds. The alt-folk four-piece write melodic and (sometimes) hopeful songs about flora, fauna,
anxiety and the tough stuff.

The band’s inception took place on New Year’s Eve 2015 when a pact was made between singer/guitarist Rowan Sandle (at the time dressed as Princess Leia) and three musician friends already active in the Leeds music scene. A gradual evolution into the line-up which entered this new decade, Crake was grown from Sandle’s steadfast proposition on a single night to join her in starting her first band.

Night Giants

Night Giants are an exciting new electronic duo from Leeds. Their sound has been described as fusing together the vibes of The Chemical Brothers with Friendly Fires-style vocal harmonies, a dash of Bonobo and a sprinkling of Caribou, with a finishing touch of warehouse acid squelch.

The Night Giants live A/V show is “an explosion of acid bass lines, synths and big beats, with strobes and visuals that take you to distant planets, deep space before returning back home to trip out on planet earth”

Oporto is part of a national initiative launched by artists, the Music Venue Trust and Independent Venue Week to help prevent the closure of hundreds of Grassroots Music Venues. The venue faces closure due to rising bills and the inability to open in this ongoing crisis. Your donations will be used to secure the future of Oporto, Knave's Kitchen and the live music it hosts and supports.

You can donate directly here: crowdfunder.co.uk/saveoporto

100% of your donations go to saving the bar, no fees are taken. If we hit the target, and closure of the venue can be prevented, everything above the amount needed will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues across the country.
