Black Diamonds

Mich Kehl (guitar and lead vocals) and Andi Barrels (guitar and backing vocals) formed the band Black Diamonds in 2004 together with Fäbs Lüchinger (drums) and Philippe Eichenberger (bass). From the start the young band started working on their own song material, which they released in 2008 on their debut album “First Strike”. The live program was enhanced with cover versions of well-known rock songs. The following years were marked by line-up changes. Manu Peng was finally won over as drummer, with Bernie Bernardi taking over bass duties. In 2013 the second album “Perfect Sin” was released and resulted in the first national attention due to the associated tour through Switzerland (“Perfect Swiss Tour”).

The band was then invited by the swiss railroad company SBB to take part in the commercial “Prices like back then”. Acquaintances made on the film set led to another television appearance in the documentary soap “Pimp it or kick it” where the four band members tried to get their completely rusty tour bus ready for the Motor vehicle inspection within 24 hours. Without success, of course. In 2014 guitarist Dee joined the band and Andi changed from guitar to bass.

In 2017 the Black Diamonds signed a record deal with AOR Heaven and released their third studio album “Once Upon A Time”. They set out for a European tour supporting H.E.A.T (SE) the same year and did a Germany tour supporting Crystal Ball (CH) the following year. In 2018 the first live album “Live in Nottingham” was released, containing live recordings of the H.E.A.T tour plus two rerecorded songs from the first debut album. “Live in Nottingham” has not been released digitally, only in a limited CD format.

In 2020 the band signed with the record label Metalapolis Records. Guitarist Dee left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Chris Blade Johnson. With the new musical influences gained from the line-up change, the band worked on their new studio album all year round. The fourth studio album “No-Tell Hotel” will be released in March 2021, three singled, each accompanied by a music video, will be released in advance.
